Bondage techniques fall into six main categories. - tying body parts together (for example with handcuffs or ropes) - spreading the body or parts of the body apart (for example on the St. Andrew's cross or with a spreader bar) - tying to other objects (e.g. St. Andrew's cross, stretching benches, chairs or tables) - hanging up the body (colloquially hanging bondage or suspension bondage) - the restriction of movement (for example due to an ankle skirt, humbler or corset) - the wrapping or wrapping of individual body parts or the whole body, for example with fabric, adhesive tape or cling film. The use of a restraint bag or vacuum bed also belongs to this category. This form, which issometimes demanding in terms of security, is known as mummification.
